Apparently, I’m a late bloomer. That’s what they say, anyway. Turns out, I was born super late, and doing things late has always been my thing. Although, ‘late’ is a subjective concept, I suppose. It’s that old mantra of not judging your life and your accomplishments by other people’s standards. For what it’s worth though, being a late bloomer is something I’ve always been sort of proud of, don’t ask me why.

And as a writer, this has crept up on me quite a lot. Specifically, in terms of procrastination. Procrastination used to bother me. I used to think, why am I not writing? Is this writer’s block or laziness? What if someone is writing all my ideas right now, at this very moment, while I’m watching Netflix? WHAT IF I DIE?

My friend was telling me that she feels guilty when she doesn’t finish something. I told her, that’s nonsense. Here’s why.

Procrastination is there for a reason

Writers go through so many emotions, feelings, ups and downs, that it is only natural that this feeling of dread due to laziness or whatever it may, should enter our minds. But it really shouldn’t…
