What you described has been essentially my problem with Nolan for years, but I actually don’t think it applies to Oppenheimer. He didn’t overdo it and, apart from the confusing array of characters, I thought it was pretty straightforward with its storytelling. In my opinion, he fully deserved his much-awaited Oscar.
