The 96th Academy Awards were held at the Dolby Theatre yesterday, March 10, 2024, and to quote Frances MacDormand’s Oscar acceptance speech from 2018, I’ve got some things to say!

Jimmy Kimmel kicked things off for the 4th time with his much-anticipated monologue. He poked fun at the Academy for not nominating Greta Gerwig for Best Director, he roasted Madame Web, he talked about how hot Ryan Gosling is, and he gave Messi, the dog from Anatomy of a Fall, the credit he deserves — Cannes has a pet award, why not the Academy? Winners
Some of the awards were as predictable as me re-watching Oscar clips on a loop for the entire week following the ceremony. Da’Vine Joy Randolph won Supporting Actress for The Holdovers, Robert Downey Jr. won Supporting Actor for Oppenheimer, The Zone of Interest won International Feature and Christopher Nolan finally, finally, won his much-awaited Best Director Oscar for Oppenheimer. Not gonna lie, I’m going to miss people losing their minds every year because Nolan didn’t get nominated again, but this was incredibly deserved.
Makeup and Hairstyling, Production Design and Costume Design were presented in a row and they all went to Poor Things…
