My Favorite Films From Every Year I’ve Been Alive (Part 1)
Aaaaallll riiiiight, let’s jump on the bandwagon, it’s been a slow day. I’m a film buff with far too much time on my hands and so I’ve decided to do what everyone’s been doing, including some of my lovely Medium friends — shout-out to Paul Combs, sorry for stealing your title.
I’m going to list my favorite films from every year I’ve been alive. This is obviously part 1 so stay tuned! There will be 30 (30!) of them in total because I’ve been on planet earth for nearly 30 years. Good grief… ANYWAY! And again, quick reminder that these are my personal favorites, so this is a very subjective list. Here they are.
1992 — Glengarry Glen Ross (dir. James Foley) — David Mamet’s recent political shitbaggery aside, Glengarry Glen Ross is class. The film and the play. I saw the play at the Southwark Playhouse in London a few years ago and it was magnificent. But I do actually prefer the film. Al Pacino’s rage-filled soliloquy directed at Kevin Spacey is one of my all-time favorite movie moments.
1993 — Jurassic Park (dir. Steven Spielberg) — Now, obviously, there were better films made in 1993 and I nearly went with another one of Mr Spielberg’s offerings, but ultimately I had to go with this one. I adore Jurassic Park. It’s one of my comfort movies and I can watch it over and over and over.
