My Answers To The ‘Inside the Actor’s Studio’ Questionnaire
I’ve seen every episode of Inside the Actor’s Studio. They used to show them on TV all the time and I never missed one. What started out as a sort of seminar for actors at the prestigious New York school soon became one of the most adored talks shows in America.
Hollywood’s greatest were interviewed by James Lipton, who, to me, was a stellar interviewer who always brought out the best in his guests. He knew the right questions to ask, he let them talk without interrupting them and occasionally there would be the odd emotional moment that would have you choked up.
Jack Lemmon, Liza Minnelli, Francis Ford Coppola, Steven Spielberg, Robin Williams, Robert Redford were just some of my favorite interviews and I occasionally still watch the clips on YouTube. It was amazing to watch these people talk about their career, their films, their family, what drives them and what their mottos in life are.
And I always loved the questionnaire at the end. Lipton’s idol was French interviewer and talk show host Bernard Pivot who devised the questionnaire it is based on. Ten questions. Ten answers. Simple. When Lipton died in 2020, I posted my own answers on Facebook as a sort of tribute.
