I Got Rejected For The Same Job… 48 Times
That’s right. I know what you’re thinking and I know it sounds ridiculous, and it’s probably not the kind of thing one should admit to, but let me clarify. I’ve been rejected for jobs with the same company a whopping 48 times. In the past decade, I’ve applied for lots of different jobs that I have felt I was qualified for and/or had a strong passion for that I thought could take me places and help me grow, only to be rejected time and again. The most recent rejection came last week, the day before I was scheduled to attend yet another one of their events. Before I even opened the email, I knew what it said. And sure enough, the words ‘after careful consideration’ and ‘unfortunately’ were there. Second paragraph. I nodded and closed the email. There was no feedback and there was no way for me to find out why, like the previous 47 times, I did not get the job. As I went about my day, I kept thinking ‘ah well, better luck next time!’. And again, yes, I do know how ridiculous that sounds. I mean, 48 times and I’m still trying? That’s insane! Well, here’s the thing…
