Given that the original All Quiet on the Western Front actually won Best Picture in 1930 (something that people tend to forget), I’d say that’s right and I’m glad we moved on from that. I’ll take the originality of EEAAO, over AQOTWF anyway. Especially as it’s a remake. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. But it would maybe go against the Academy’s attempts at moving forward and going with the times. That’s probably part of the reason Parasite won over 1917. That and the fact that it’s absolutely phenomenal.
