Classic Hollywood stars who should have made a movie together
So, I daydream a lot. And I often daydream about Hollywood legends and the movies they DIDN’T make together. Is it obvious I didn’t have friends growing up? Anyway. I often think about movie stars who, for one reason or another, I think should have made a movie together. That’s right, these people down below here were never together onscreen, shocking as that may be. Here are some of my ultimate would-be screen pairs:
Katharine Hepburn and Lauren Bacall — They were lifelong friends, they were a couple of badasses and they both had the screen presence of an avalanche (is that a weird expression? I’m trying to coin it). I would imagine that they would have made some movie in the 1950s or possibly 60s. They could have played sisters, or, better yet, best friends, in some sort of Desk Set (1957) — How to Marry a Millionaire (1953) hybrid.
Jeffrey Hunter and Rock Hudson — Jeffrey Hunter was one of the most intense actors of his generation. Talented and extremely underrated. And Rock Hudson was incredible and much more versatile than people give him credit for. I can just picture them in some sort of angsty Western, like a multi-genre cross between The Searchers (1956) and Written on the Wind (1956).
