Movies and music. Perfect combination? Pretty much. I love my movies and I love my music, so I thought I’d put together a small list of songs about and for Hollywood, movies and movie stars, their hopes and dreams, their highs and most certainly their lows. Some are just references, others mere allusions to a particular movie, others heartfelt tributes, but all of them are absolute classics.

Celluloid Heroes by The Kinks

This is one of music’s greatest-ever love letters to Hollywood. With loving references to Hollywood Boulevard, Greta Garbo, Bela Lugosi, Bette Davis, George Sanders, Mickey Rooney, it’s just a full-blown nostalgic, cathartic and bittersweet tribute to Tinseltown. If I didn’t know any better, I would have said I’d written it myself!
