If you can believe that 1994 was 30 years ago (I can’t), then I’ve got a list for you!

Britpop took the UK by storm in the 90s, with acts such as Blur, Pulp, Oasis, Suede, The Verve, Elastica, and many more taking over the charts and wreaking havoc. With their typical British sound, often with a 1960s throwback vibe to it, and contemporary, sometimes satirical lyrics, Britpop is a 90s time capsule that feels more and more nostalgic every year.

And this year marks the 30th anniversary of one of the decade’s best years, 1994. So here are four songs from the ‘big four’, from 1994… or something less confusing.

But first…

What’s this ‘big four’ thing? Who were they?

Well, they were Oasis, Blur, Pulp and Suede, the four bands generally considered to be the most successful and iconic ones. The poster bands of Britpop, if you will. And luckily each of them released albums and songs in 1994, so…

‘Babies’ by Pulp

Some of the greatest melody-makers of their generation, Pulp crafted one of the ultimate ‘If-I-were-a-musician-I-would-have-wanted-to-have-written-that’ songs with ‘Babies’, which failed to chart originally in 1992…
